If you are a victim of sexual abuse we recommend that you report to the
nearest police station, however hard you find it to go and tell them. Incase
you have access to the main police stations in Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and
Coast Region, be aware that nowadays these have special gender desks to deal
with gender based violence cases whereby the responsible police officers
have been specially trained to respond to cases of sexual abuse and other
gender based violence cases. Alternatively, adult women could also seek help
from the House of Peace while adolescents and children may access such
service from the Dogo Dogo Centre or from PASADA. In Mwanza you could look
for Kuleana. Sharing your terrible experience will help others who have been
too scared to tell others what happened to them. ITV are concerned to raise
awareness of such abuse as is the Tanzania Women's Lawyer's Association
(TAWLA) in Dar. |
